KEXP’s WO’ Pop Presents Duende Libre Album Release Featuring Chava Mirel and Special Guest Frank Anderson
June 29 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm PDT$20
Duende Libre is thrilled to celebrate the release of their second-album, “Drift.” This special event is presented in partnership with Rainier Arts Center and will feature Chava Mirel and special guest Frank Anderson.
An inspired power trio, Duende Libre features longtime collaborators Alex Chadsey (piano/keyboards/compositions), Farko Dosumov (electric bass & voice) and Jeff Bongo Busch (drums & percussion). They will be joined by electrifying vocalist, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Chava Mirel and soulful Blues & R&B stylist Frank Anderson. Duende Libre utilizes the American jazz tradition as a point of departure for daring explorations of traditional and classical music from the Americas, Europe & Africa, yielding catchy melodies, lush harmonies, and wholehearted groove.
Chava Mirel is a singer, composer & multi-instrumentalist who combines rich, luxurious vocals with deep pocket rhythms to bring a new sound to Seattle music, and in particular the Jewish music community where she plays a leading role. With themes of gratitude, self-acceptance, balance and responsibility for each other, Chavas songs bring comfort and uplift the spirit.
Seattle jazz and blues singer Frank Anderson will headline the evening. R&B singer Frank Anderson will headline the evening. Frank’s warm tenor voice and original renditions of jazz, R&B, blues and gospel songs from the 30s to the early-70s offer an eclectic range of soul-satisfying music. A Seattle native, Frank has been performing as a dancer, percussionist and R&B vocalist since 1986. Now at the tender age of 61 he is dancing a little less and singing more. You can usually catch Frank Anderson with many of Seattles top musicians at local clubs such as Capitol Cider, Egan’s and North City Bistro, where audiences adore his soulful delivery and engaging stage presence.
